For the Feast of the Sacred
Heart, the community at St.
Ignatius Martyr Church
in Austin hosted
the priests, brothers, and sisters in the Austin
area. The ever-smiling pastor, Fr.
Joe Tomei, (as we can
see in this picture shamelessly "borrowed" from the St. Ignatius
web page) led us in evening prayer, followed by a social hour and a
wonderful dinner at the rectory. Make sure you check out Fr. Joe at
the St. Ignatius Fun
Run!!
There were many brothers
who came from St. Joe Hall and Brother Vincent Pieaux Residence.
Among them were some who just moved into the Austin area from the New
Orleans area: Brother
Stephen Walsh and Brother
Robert LeGros.
Welcome to Austin!!! "A good time was
had by all!!!"
The Feast of the Sacred
Heart was extra special this year in Mexico. Javier
Herminio Garcia and Alfredo
Olvera Ledezma
graduated from

the Minor Seminary. All the members of both houses of
formation attended the festivities in the Minor Seminary of Monterrey.
First there was a Mass of Thanksgiving. Fathers
Dan Panchot and Len
Collins concelebrated
along with the priests on the seminary staff. Javier and Alfredo did the
readings for the Mass. The graduation ceremony took place after Mass in a
large hall outside the chapel. Alfredo and Javier were two of the 47
graduates. Each received a "Diplomata" in Humanities. The
program included the presentation of the diplomas, a salute to the Mexican
Flag, several speeches, a computer generated slide show and a toast to the
new graduates.
After the graduation the group headed back across town to Guadalupe and a
party in the Professed House. There they were joined by Father
Pete Logsdon, Sisters Juanita and Mica
and their soon to be candidate Lili.
There were more presentations to the two honorees and speeches by everyone
present and a toast to the soon to be philosophers. And of course there
were drinks, mostly Coca Cola, and food. Needless to say a good time was
had by all!!!
We
don't know what's being sold,l but it looks as though Marin Hernandez
isn't buying!!!!
