March 2005  Page 2

The Holy Cross Hispanic Ministries Committee met in Cd. Guadalupe (Monterrey), Nuevo León, México.  The committee is made up of priests, brothers, and sisters who work in Hispanic ministry.  They work in parishes, schools, retreat programs, hospitals, and special ministries like Holy Cross Family Ministries.  This year people came from South Bend, IN; Manchester, NH, North Easton, MA; New Bedford, MA; Akron, OH; Austin, TX; Indio, CA; Chicago, IL; San Antonio, TX, and of course, Cd. Guadalupe, Nuevo Léon, México.

Over the years, the committee has been a source of professional continuing education as we learn from other people, both in Holy Cross and in other areas, about new approaches and new efforts in Hispanic ministry.  Each year we meet in a different location where Holy Cross does Hispanic ministry; this allows us to see the different places and works of Holy Cross.  It also allows those who are not part of the committee, but live in that particular area to be part of the meeting and sessions.

The first night people gathered at La Providencia, the Holy Cross Sisters' Formation House in Cd. Guadalupe.  This house is a candidates' house.  There are two young ladies who live with Sr. Joan Mader and Sr. Pat Clossey.  There is a second-year novice, Lily Martinez, who is presently in Los Angeles, CA.  The sisters have another house in Cd. Guadalupe where they have their "Ven a ver" program; this is a pre-candidate program where young ladies can come and experience religious life.  There is currently one young lady there with Sr. Mica (Sr. Michelle).

Father Len Collins explains the schedule and plans to the Holy Cross Hispanic Ministry Committee.  Brother Michael Winslow (left of Len) listens attentively.  Angel Hernandez (a candidate to the right of Len) and Fr. Marin Hernandez are deep in thought.
Sr. Pauline LeBel, Sr. Clare Alfred Bill, Bro. Carlos Parilla, Sr. Charlotte LeBeouf, Rosie and David from Family Rosary in Mexico.  Bro. Roberto is in the background. Father Moreau does not look quite as worried as he usually does.
Sr. Charlotte, Rosie and David, Bro. Robert, Beth Mahoney, and Sr. Joan Mader.
