Father Leon Boarman died at Holy Cross House, Notre Dame, IN.  Father Boarman was the oldest member of the province.  He first wrote to Holy Cross after dropping out of the 8th grade.  He had read an article in the Maryknoll Magazine and wanted to be a missionary priest to China.   He wrote to Notre Dame and was willing to be a missionary to India, since Holy Cross did not have any missions there.

After spending about 10 years in the missions in India, or what is now Bangladesh, he returned to the United States.  He first served in the work of raising money for the missions.  Then he was a high school chaplain, a hospital chaplain, and then a parish priest in Waco, Burnet, and Bertram.  Being very devoted to Mary, he worked with the Army of Mary until he was forced to stop.

May he rest in peace!

Father John Korcsmar, Mario Guzman, and Luis Antonio Perez went to have supper with the Escamilla Family.  They live in the Dove Springs area of southeast Austin.  Carmen Escamilla is a catechist at Dolores Parish.  She is taking the classes that Luis Antonio is giving; she says that they are very good.  A good time was had by all, except Sancho, their little chihuaha who had to stay outside and didn't get any supper.  Duffy would never have tolerated that!

Jack Birkmeyer is now residing at Holy Cross House.  His nephew, Johnny, is a physical therapist and flew with him up there.  Jack's sister, Millie, is really glad that he is there.  Johnny spoke very highly of the care Jack is getting and the kind of setting that Holy Cross House provides for our men.

Jack Miller is very ill with pancreatic cancer.  He asks for prayers.  Father Ed Krause was visiting him and helping him through the time of chemotherapy and radiation.  Jack has been very, very tired.  Even speaking on the phone has been a difficult and exhausting experience for him.  Please keep him in your prayers.
