Katrina hit New Orleans with a vengeance.  Fr. Bob Brennan, Bro. Walter Gluhm, and Fr. Tony DeConciliis (the new president at Our Lady of Holy Cross College) were at the rectory at Sacred Heart Parish.  They were there for a few days, with plenty of food and water.  Finally, some one came by in a boat and took them to the Dome--which became an experience that they will not forget.

They then went by bus to the Astrodome, finally to the Hobby airport and flew to different places.  Fr. Bob Brennan is at Stonehill College, Fr. DeConciliis is with family in New York, and Br. Walter is at Columba Hall at Notre Dame.  Bro. Richard Kelley was in California at the time.  He is still there at the high school in Mountainview.

Austin started preparing for the effects of Rita on Thursday.  Two of the Carmelite Sisters from Houston arrived at Dolores Parish, along with a married couple who brought them.  Some families started to arrive in the afternoon as well, and so they started to move into the Family Center.

Minerva assures us that this will not affect Fr. John's walking schedule.

A number of people have sent in money to help with Sacred Heart Parish in New Orleans.  Some were particularly concerned for the families.  Anything that is sent in to us for New Orleans, we will gladly forward on to Fr. Brennan who is the pastor there.  Those wishing to help may send a check to:
