Archbishop Hughes of New Orleans called Fr. John Korcsmar to bring him up to date on the planning that has been taking place in New Orleans.

The deaneries have been meeting and preparing their proposed plans.  These plans will then be reviewed by the council of deans and the presbyteral council.  The major superiors will also be meeting with the archbishop.

At present, they are taking things in steps, given the limited resources (human and financial).  They will work on the churches, then the schools, and then the other centers.

For the next 18--24 months, the parishes of Sacred Heart and St. Anthony's will be worshipping together at St. Anthony's.  The archbishop feels that both parishes are important because they serve a Hispanic community which is larger than their territories.

Dolores Parish had the Pastorela from Mexico again this year .  In collaboration with the Mexican consulate and the Mexican Community Center, the group returned and performed at Dolores.

The story is the struggle between good and evil, represented by St. Gabriel and the devil.  The shepherds are invited to adore the Christ child.  They are tempted, challenged, encouraged and defended by St. Gabriel.

The devil plots against the pastors adoring the Christ child. His beautiful devils help him.
A Longhorn sets up a piņata. The piņata comes from the pastorela.  Originally, they had 7 points to represent the 7 capital sins.  By struggling against them, one eventually gets to the good things: represented by candy.
