Our Lady of Holy Cross College Celebrates 90 Years of Service
On Saturday, September 16, 2006, students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends joined a large contingent of the Marianites of Holy Cross to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans, LA.
The community gathered in the Moreau Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.. for the Eucharist. At the beginning of the celebration, Sister Mary Kay Kinberger, M.S.C, Superior General of the Marianites, gave a history of the college from its founding for the training of the sisters, to its opening to the public and its present day service in the struggling city of New Orleans.
Father Anthony DeConciliis, C.S.C. President of the College, presided at the Eucharist and preached. In his homily, he highlighted the importance of being faithful to the founding intention of the college of providing a quality professional education to local area students at a reasonable cost. He was joined at the Eucharist by Father Arthur J. Colgan, C.S.C., the Provincial Superior of the Eastern Province of the Congregation of Holy Cross. Following the Eucharist, more than 200 guests gathered for a buffet dinner.
The college is up and running once again following the devastation of Katrina. Located in the Algiers area of New Orleans, it has a growing enrollment of approximately 1,450 students, who range in age from 17 to 71, attending both full- and part-time.

The Austin Interfaith Clergy Caucus met at Dolores Parish. Doug Greco, the lead organizer, led a discussion on pressures on families and did a power analysis of Austin. There were quite a few clergy there. Most of them were Catholic. Fr. John congratulated Fr. Joe Tomei for having the largest delegation from St. Ignatius there--a total of 7 including Fr. Joe.
