The Holy Cross Intercongregational Hispanic Ministry Committee met in East Freetown, MA. Father Hugh Cleary, superior general of the men's congregation, was with us. He encouraged us to look to the future and to work so that when people think of Holy Cross, one of the things they immediately think of, along with Notre Dame, is Hispanic ministry.
Holy Cross priests, brothers, sisters, and their collaborators are involved in Hispanic ministry in a variety of settings:
At the meeting we discussed planning a multi-congregational meeting at Notre Dame, probably in March 2007. The leadership of all four congregations, vocation directors, formators, religious in formation, and others would be invited. Of course, all Holy Cross religious would be welcome.
The goal would be to begin to plan so that Holy Cross is prepared to meet the challenges of the growing Latin population in the United States. Our apostolates would be affects, as well as our own internal ministries of vocation work, formation, etc.
