Father John Korcsmar and Sister Lili Martinez went to a Texas IAF meeting in San Antonio. It was a planning session for the large meeting that the state network will have in Austin in September. John and Lili have different roles in the organizing. John is a pastor and a leader. Lili is an organizer. At these meetings the organizers have more work and more meetings because they work to prepare for the meeting and evaluate afterwards.
What this meant in practice is that on Saturday morning, Lili had an organizers meeting at 8:00 am, while the leaders weren't meeting until 10:00. So when John opened his eyes at 8:00 am and looked at the clock, he said a little prayer for Lili and went back to sleep. He thought that was so neat that he got to back to sleep while Lili worked. However, the next day it dawned on him as he was driving out to Stoney Point for 8:00 am Mass that Lili's first appointment was 10:00 am Mass at Holy Cross Church. She who laughs last.....
The Indian community celebrated their Mayalayam Mass on Sunday at Dolores. There are many priests who have come to work in Texas from India, and so they were able to invite a priest from India who speaks both English and Spanish, besides Mayalayam. Sister Anita (a Holy Cross Sister from Bangladesh who is studying nursing in Austin), Sister Lili, and Brother Thomas attended the Mass. John showed up for the snacks after Mass. They then went out to dinner together at a Mexican restaurant. While they were at supper, Father Paul Pudussery called Sister Lili. Paul knows everybody!!
School has started, and Minerva and John have gotten back on schedule for their morning walks. It is amazing how much energy Minerva has with her two boys and then takes John out for a walk. (If he behaves, John gets to walk Rocky, the four legged boxer. Is it John or Rocky who has to behave????)
