Mr. Gene Allison, the father of Rev. Jeffrey L. Allison, CSC has died.  Fathers Larry LeVasseur, Harold Essling, John Korcsmar, Daniel Panchot (Jeff's uncle and Mr. Allison's brother-in-law) and Brother Thomas attended the funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral in Houston.  Fathers Tony Szakaly, Steve Wilbricht, Brent Kruger, Terry Ehrman, and Kevin Rousseau from the Indiana Province also concelebrated.

Jeff did preside and preach very well--a task most of us would rather pass up as too challenging.  A very touching moment was when the children and some of their spouses sang an Irish blessing at the end of Mass; it was one of Mr, Allison's favorites.

May he rest in peace!!

Capital IDEA did an orientation for prospective students at Dolores Church.

Over 200 persons came to hear how the program works and how demanding it can be.  The purpose of the program is to help adults learn the skills necessary for jobs that pay a living wage.  The students are helped with the guidance of counselors and with support services.

Dolores Parish has consistently been the single largest source of the students.

Sr. Rose Moreno and Fr. John Korcsmar drove up to Dallas.  On their way there, they stopped at a McDonald's for John's two necessities of life:
  1. bathroom break (always clean at McDonald's)
  2. MORE coffee (always fresh and good at McDonald's).

When John woke up, he saw a golden dome.  At first he was concerned that either there were severe budget cuts or that an MSU Spartan or another terrorist had done something to the Golden Dome, but after coffee he realized he was in Waco.

Did Father Sorin get a copyright?????

John and Rose went there to learn more about how to use census date.  Al Marival, the regional director and a leader with Dallas Area Interfaith (the local IAF group) was more gracious.  One of his workers gave them a tutorial on how to find different kinds of reports: ethnicity, language spoken at home, immigrants, income and poverty level, etc.  This will be useful in discovered the demographics of the people who live in our parishes.

Al then arranged a meeting with Lynn Rossol, director of the Pastoral Planning and Research Office for the Diocese of Dallas, and her associate, Rita Garcia.  They were most helpful in thinking about what the different questions to ask and how the data can be used.

Afterwards, they drove the three hours back to Austin and then the other hour to get across the city to get to Montopolis and then St. Ed's.  There was a great celebration for the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, the patroness of the sisters, brothers, and priests of Holy Cross.  Fr. Rick Wilkinson presided and preached at the Mass, and the brothers at St. Joseph Hall hosted the social hour an a wonderful meal.  May Our Lady of Sorrows guide and bless Holy Cross!!
