The weather in Austin has continued to be cold. It may strike people in Indiana as odd, but when the temperature is just below freezing and there is precipitation, the weather becomes very dangerous in Austin. It is not terribly unusual for the weather to be like that for short periods of time--a day or so--but this has now gone on for about five days. Surfaces are coated with ice, and are very slippery. It feels as though it is very, very cold. Some people like to go out in the cold. Thank goodness that Sr. Lili Martínez took her camera to take these pictures. John was not going to go out!!

Sr. Judy came outside; note the ice and snow on the cars. |
Some of the neighborhood kids play in the snow and make snowballs. |

| Fr. John
and Sr. Rose drove down to San Antonio.
Well, Sr. Rose drove, and John slept. Anyhow, they had a very good visit with Eddie Cedillo, the development director of Holy Cross of San Antonio, four students who are seniors, and with Bro. Stanley Culotta. They had a very good and interesting time there. John was able to do a lot of filming in preparation for the DVD that he is preparing for the Hispanic Summit in March. |

| Sr. Carlota and Sr. Lili spoke at Sunday evening Mass at Queen of Peace Chapel. They talked about religious life and about the ministries that they are doing. They hope to get a group of young women started; they would pray and discuss about options for vocations. | Sr. Lili is always very concerned about the well being of the Holy Cross priests. Here she brings a cup of coffee (milk, no sugar) just the way Fr. John likes it. |
