The Religion and Labor Network of Austin recognized Fr. John Korcsmar, along with Congressman Lloyd Doggett and Council Member Mike Martinez. Of John, they wrote, "Fr. John S. Korcsmar is being recognized by RNLA for his long-time dedication to workers' rights as a faith leader. Father John played a key role in helping RLNA take flight in 2004. In the community, he continues to work in many ways with various partners to bring justice to working families. Among many roles, he serves as pastor of Dolores Catholic Church in Austin, co-chir of Austin Interfaith, Diocesan Director for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development."
John also celebrated his 60th birthday on Pentecost. At each of the Masses, the congregation sang maņanitas to him. After the last Mass, they had a surprise birthday party for him in the parish Family Center.
